Teacher in Sweden suspended after giving students homework assignment to plan terror attack
A Swedish teacher is under police investigation for allegedly instructing students to devise a theoretical terror attack, as reported by education authorities.
The incident, which occurred at a senior high school in Jönköping municipality, prompted the school management to suspend the teacher without pay pending further investigation.
“It’s a total lack of judgment. Not to mention we’ve got a raised terror threat level in this country,” Henrik Natt och Dag, head of education for gymnasium schools (which translates to upper secondary or senior high schools) in the municipality, said in a statement on Wednesday, according to The Local Sweden.
The incident came to light on Friday, and the municipality has informed staff, students, and parents about the situation. The teacher, as of now, has not publicly addressed the accusations.
“We’re taking it very seriously and will also report it to the police,” said Natt och Dag.
Notably, in August, Sweden elevated its national terror threat level from three to four due to a heightened security situation, designating the country as a priority target.
