Woman gets full refund after returning Costco couch after 2 years: “I just didn’t like it anymore”
A Costco customer recently put the retail giant’s return policy to the test by returning a sofa she had owned for over two years, simply because she no longer liked it.
“I just didn’t like it anymore. We just don’t like the color anymore,” the shopper, Jackie Nguyen, said in a TikTok video that’s been viewed nearly 3 million times since she posted it on January 23.
The shopper, Nguyen, approached Costco without the original receipt but was able to recall the date of purchase. With this information, a Costco retail clerk facilitated the transaction, providing Nguyen with a full refund.
“I told her the date I bought it — she looked it up in the computer, told me exactly which one it was. That was it. She asked me if there was anything wrong with it … I said I just didn’t like it anymore,” Nguyen explained, adding, “They gave us a full refund to his card, so yeah, it worked.”
Nguyen, pleased with her hassle-free experience, took to social media to advocate for purchasing furniture from Costco, emphasizing the ease of returning items when preferences change. “Buy your furniture from Costco, girl. You can return it when you don’t like it anymore,” she shared with her followers.
In a follow-up TikTok post, Nguyen mentioned that she initially inquired with a Costco retail clerk about the possibility of returning her sofa before going through the effort of bringing it back to the warehouse.
